Dame Robina Shah statue finds permanent home

Dame Robina Shah’s put her forward statue will be unveiled at at MANCHESTER LIBRARY this Friday, 24 February before heading to its permanent home at Manchester Town Hall.

Since our 2018 project, put her forward, where we doubled the number of statues of real, living women in the UK based on YOUR nominations, the amazing Robina Shah has been awarded a Damehood! 

Robina (officially Dame Robina Shah, DBE DL JP CPsychol PhD HONFRCGP SFHEA) is:

  • the first person in Europe known to publish research about the support needs of children with disabilities from south Asian backgrounds
  • the UK’s youngest and first Asian chairman of an NHS Trust
  • the youngest Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester in 2006
  • the first Asian woman to be personally appointed by the Queen as High Sheriff for Greater Manchester
